A parrot cage should not be round.

Place the cage in the room where you are the most often but not near the window. Drafts are deadly for parrots. The cage should definitely not be placed in the kitchen because of the cooking fumes.

Also watch out for cigarette smoke - it´s toxic and the parrot should never come into contact with it.

The wire netting on the cage and aviary should be vertical and horizontal on at least two sides, for the parrot to climb.

Beware of using inappropriate branches for chewing or as tree perches. For example acacia,yew,oleander and rhododendron - they are poisonous.

Cages made of ordinary wire netting can be deadly for a parrot if it stays there for a long period. The wire netting releases dangerous metals into its body when it climbs or chews it.
