CAGES AND AVIARIES MAINTENANCE SCHEME
A very important factor in the health of your feathered friend is a clean living space - this means the regular cleaning of cages and aviaries. Unnecessary parasitic diseases, which thrive when the hygiene principles are not kept during the cleaning of the cage, are avoided by using the proper procedures.
The cleaning of cages and aviaries can be arranged into daily, weekly and monthly cleaning routines.
Daily cleaning
- to remove droppings, food remains and feathers, from the bottom of the cage, preferably by dustpan and brush
- drinking and bathing bowls to be washed with hot water, the same can be done with food dishes but it is easier to have spare dishes and change them every morning
- to remove droppings from perches and wire netting by spray a brush
Weekly cleaning
- bird houses, toys and ropes to be washed with hot water
- feeding, drinking and bathing bowls to put in hot water for half an hour and then washed several times with lukewarm water. We can use a weak disinfectant but stay away from cleaning agents that contains formaldehyde. Therefore use only cleaning products specifically designed for this purpose!!!
- tree perch and perches to be brushed, disinfected and then rinsed with hot water
- the bottom of the cage to be filled with sand, wood chips and pellets
- branches to be replaced for fresh ones
Monthly cleaning
- the entire substrate to be replaced - the sand and top soil
- the nesting boxes to be hoovered, disinfected and rinsed with hot water
- hatches, frames, wire netting, windows and perimeter paving to be brushed. Use appropriate didinfectant, rinse with hot water and allow to dry
- tree perch, perches, toys, scratching perches and all equipment to be removed from the cage or aviary, disinfected and rinsed with hot water
We will completely clean your cage or aviary with safe cleaning products for a negotiated price.
However, not only hygiene, but also diet, mental well-being and sufficient space will make your feathered friend truly happy.
