TREE PERCH
Tree perches should form an integral part of each cage and aviary for parrots to sit and climb. We use a thick branch that corresponds to the height and width of the living space of the parrot. We can put the branch into a stainless steel basket and weigh it down with stones that reach 3/4 of the way up the basket to ensure the stability of the branch. Subsequently we pour concrete mixture into the same height as the stones. The rest of the basket can be filled with sand.
We then drill holes lengthwise to create suitable perches made of branches of various diameters. When drilling the holes we have to be careful that the perches don´t cross each other when putting the branches in.
The branches should be changed weekly for a parrot to have something to chew on. Suitable perches are made from the branches of fruit trees from your own garden where you can be sure that the branches are not chemically treated. It is also possible to use branches of birch, maple, beech, alder and oak.
We supply the tree perches either as a thick branch with pre-drilled holes, seated in a concrete block or in a stainless steel basket that is weighed down to ensure stability.
