We shouldn´t overlook the fact that in outdoor aviary, amongst other disturbing elements, the exotics are threatened by attack, especially by cats and martens. If we want to avoid these unpleasant events, it is necessary to protect the aviary against potential attack.
There are two possible variants of protecting outdoor aviaries:
Protect the aviary with electric current, we stretch low voltage lines along the whole aviary at the height approximately 50 cm from the ground and the same around the top edge of the aviary. This the same electric fencing as used for free grazing cattle.
The second option is to protectively frame the aivaries. We mount protective frames in front of the existing aviary. Wa pay attention to every detail so it isn´t possible to get in between the two parts of the aviary from any side. The material used in the protective frame doesn´t necessarily have to be stainless steel but can also be ordinary wire netting with a mesh size 10x10 mm and a frame made of aluminium of iron will be adequate.
Do not underestimate the necessity of suitable protection of aviaries for your parrots.
